Welcome

Mynydd Cynffig Primary School is located in the village of Kenfig Hill, about four miles west of the town of Bridgend in South Wales. The school has easy access from Junction 37 of the M4 and has good road links to surrounding towns and villages. The primary school is an amalgamation of the former Mynydd Cynffig Infant and Junior Schools but still operates on two separate sites. Bridgend County Borough Council to build a new Primary School to be located at the current Junior site with a view to this opening in September 2025.

We hope that your child’s time at Mynydd Cynffig Primary School will be one where they can learn in a happy and safe environment, where they will develop and apply their skills and knowledge to a range of challenges and where they will build positive memories of their school experience alongside our committed, conscientious teachers and support staff.

Currently, our school is organised on two separate sites. The Foundation Phase (Infants) Department, based on the Commercial Street site, accommodates approximately 230 children ranging in age from 3 – 7. These pupils are organised into eight classes, two per Year group, from Nursery to Year 2.

The Key Stage 2 (Junior) Department also accommodates approximately 230 pupils ranging in age from 7 - 11 based on the Pwllygath Street site. These pupils are also organised into eight classes, two per Year group from Year 3 to Year 6.

One of our many aims is to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our pupils. We look for quality in all of our activities so that our children become confident, well-mannered and well-behaved individuals who are able to work co-operatively and collaboratively as well as developing their own independence. We encourage our children to be respectful and responsible and to develop an awareness of their place within our school community, the community of Kenfig Hill, in Wales and in the wider world.

As a school, we fully recognise and appreciate the important role parents play in their child’s development as a learner. We look forward to working together with you, forming a respectful and effective partnership which will have a positive impact on your child’s education. We hope this gives you a flavour of our school - should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact us.
